Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the constituting equipments of a hydraulic power plant from being damaged by a method wherein a detector, detecting the difference of the levels of a reservoir before and after a dust removing screen, is provided to limit the flow amount of water to the water wheel when the detected level difference is higher than a predetermined value. CONSTITUTION:Water at the upstream of a power station is flowed into an upper reservoir through a water introducing passageway while the same passed through the dust removing screen is introduced to the water wheel 4. A level meter 20, measuring the water level H1 of the upper reservoir 1 before passing through the dust removing screen 2, the level meter 21, measuring the water level H2 of the upper reservoir 1 after passing through the dust removing screen 2, and a level difference detector 22, detecting the difference of the water level H1 and the same H2, are provided at the upper reservoir 1. When the level difference of the reservoir before and after the dust removing screen 2 becomes higher than a predetermined value, the flow amount of the water is controlled by a guide vane 5 controlled to a predetermined opening degree thereof which means the predetermined flow amount of the water wheel.
