Abstract

PURPOSE:To contrive energy-saving in an internal combustion engine of the type in which compressed fuel gas discharged from a compressor is supplied to the engine after cooling the fuel gas by an after-cooler, by heating the fuel gas supplied to the engine via the after-cooler by compressed gas discharged from the compressor. CONSTITUTION:Fuel gas supplied from a gas inlet port 29 as shown by an arrow X in the drawing is carried via a mist separator 20, compressor 21, heat exchanger 22, after-cooler 23 and drain separator 24, in which condensed liquid of substances contained in the gas is removed. Then, fuel gas flows into a pipe A arranged on the downstream side of the drain separator 24, and thereafter the fuel gas flow is divided into a by-pass pipe B returning to the mist separator 20 and a pipe C in an internal combustion engine line for supplying fuel gas to an internal combustion engine 26 via the heat exchanger 22 and a filter 25. Fuel gas carried into the pipe C is heatd at the heat exchanger and then carried into an auxiliary drain separator 28 via a valve 35 at the time of starting the engine whereas it is carried to the engine 26 via a valve 34 during ordinary operation or the engine.
