Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve toughness and productivity by contg. Al and N in a prescribed range, regulating the amt. of the contained B in the relation with N and regulating the cooling rate for continuous casting. CONSTITUTION:The Al and N in steel is contained, respectively by wt%, at 0.01-0.06% Al and 0.004-0.025% N, and are regulated to a range of <=4.5ppm B and >=1.6X10<-3>XB (ppm) N(wt%). In the case of casting an ingot from molten steel continuously, the cooling rate in the process of casting in set at >=0.2 deg.C/ sec. Thereby, the case hardening steel of less quantity of strain and superior toughness in a surface treatment such as carburizing is obtained.
