Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve utilizing efficiency of an adsorbent layer, by fully distributing fuel vapor to all the corners of the adsorbent layer. CONSTITUTION:Granular active carbon is filled in a vessel 2 to form a fuel vapor adsorbent layer 1. An intermediate layer 15 is embedded in the adsorbent layer 1 in such a manner as to divide the layer 1 into two of an upper part 1a and lower part 1b. This intermediate layer 15 comprises an active carbon fiber layer 15a and filters 15b, 15c, piled on upper and lower sides of said fiber layer 15a. This active carbon fiber layer 15a is provided with an internal communication space, and ventilation resistance is arranged smaller than the adsorbent layer 1. Though fuel vapor, generated in a fuel tank, passes through an introduction pipe 11 to flow into the upper adsorbent layer 1a, the vapor is partially blocked by the filter 15b because of its relatively large ventilation resistance, to circumferentially flow upward of the upper adsorbent layer 1a. On the other hand, fuel, flowing into the active carbon fiber layer 1a, is rapidly and uniformly dispersed in the layer 15a.
