Abstract
1,062,315. Venting fuel tanks. VAUXHALL MOTORS Ltd. Feb. 3, 1966 [Feb. 25, 1965], No. 8125/65. Heading B8X. A vehicle fuel tank has a filler spout 2 and, leading from diagonally-opposite corners of the tank, two vent pipes 3, 4 with upward loops 10 of the same height as and preferably passing over the filler spout 2. Each vent pipe has a downturned end 8 (9) and an end 5 (6) which terminates just above the " full " level of the tank with a restricted aperture 7 (Fig. 5, not shown) between the inlet and tank roof. If desired end 5 may be extended almost to the tank bottom to eliminate fuel loss when the tank is inverted.
