Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to use a low pressure injector and varieties of fuel in such a way that an auxiliary combustion chamber is connected to a main combustion chamber by means of a through hole, and compression ratio in the main combustion chamber and the auxiliary combustion camber by opening and closing the through hole. CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary combustion chamber 2 is connected to a main combustion chamber 5 by means of a through hole 3. When air in the auxiliary chamber 2 is compressed to some extent, a valve 1 closes the through hole 3, and compression ratio in the auxiliary combustion chamber is kept unchanged. The main combustion chamber 5 is further compressed up to high pressure, and the auxiliary combustion chamber 2 has fuel injected through a fuel injector 4 and mixed with air. The main combustion chamber 5 becomes involved in high temperature and high pressure, the valve 1 opens the through hole 3, air involved in high temperature and high pressure is flowed into the auxiliary combustion chamber 2, also the auxiliary combustion chamber 2 becomes involved in high temperature and high pressure, and fuel is ignited and burned. Thus, even if the compression ratio is increased, a low pressure injector can be used, and also varieties of fuel are utilizable. Besides, spiral flow is produced in the combustion chambers due to the difference in the compression ratio, so that it can be completely burned.
