Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the absolute angle of a rotating body without having the positioning with the reference position before measurement, by delivering different output codes from plural magnetic sensors for absolute angle every time when the rotor rotates with the detected minimum absolute angle. CONSTITUTION:A rotating plate 8 consists of a magnet distributing plate 9 a magnetic insulating plate 10 and a multipole magnetizing disk 11 which are stacked and fixed to each other. When the plate 8 rotates together with a rotating body, i.e. a subject of measurement centering on the center 12 of rotation in the direction of an arrow, magnetic sensors Sa1-Sa4 for absolute angle deliver a combination of different output pulses, i.e. an output code every time when the plate 8 rotates by the detected minimum absolute angle theta. The output code differs for absolute angles alpha0-alpha15 and is stored in a memory, etc. to be compared with the output code which is actually delivered from the sensors Sa1-Sa4 respectively. Thus the position of a rotating body can be detected. As a result, the absolute angle of the rotating body can be detected without having the positioning with the reference position before measurement.
