Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the heat transmitting performance of a flat heat exchanger tube, by forming strengthening ribs on the inner surface of the heat exchanger tube to extend along the axis of the tube, and opening slits intermittently in these ribs, so that mixing of fluid passed through the tube can be promoted. CONSTITUTION:On the inside of a flat heat exchanger tube 11, a plurality of fin-like strengthening pieces or ribs 12 are formed between opposite tube walls 11a, 11b to extend along the axis of the tube 11, in the manner that they are unitary with the tube walls. Further, slits 13 are opened in these ribs 12 in an intermittent manner. In case that a single-phase flow of coolant is passed through the inside of the tube 11, laminar-flow heat exchanging is caused around each rib 12 by the presence of the slits 13, and at the same time, the thickness of the boundary layer is reduced since it is broken along the fluid flow by the function of the ribs 12 and slits 13, so that the heat transmitting performance of the tube 11 can be improved. In case of two-phase flow, on the other hand, mixing of fluid takes place between adjacent fluid passages also by the function of the slits 13, so that the heat transmitting performance can be also improved through promotion of fluid mixing.
