Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the combination of fin elements each comprised of a single fin and a plurality of spacers and to improve the accuracy of the combination by a method wherein both ends of each of the fins of the fin elements are bent upward in the direction of the width of the fin. CONSTITUTION:The spacers 2 are laid over the fin 1 in the direction of the thickness of the fin by making throughholes 3 of the fin coincide with the throughholes 4 of the spacers 2, respectively so that a passage for a fluid 8 is provided. In this case, as each of the connecting surfaces of the fin 1 and the spacers 2 has only a thickness as small as the thickness of the wall of the passage for the fluid 8A, the accuracy required in positioning the spacers 2 with respect to the fin must be strict and therefore, both ends of the fin 1 are bent upward as at 9 so that the fin 1 and the spacers corresponding in number to the former are combined with each other with the same degree of dimensional accuracy. Further, a number of fin elements each comprised of the above mentioned single fin 1 and a plurality of the spacers 2 are laid one above another to thereby complete the heat exchanger.
