Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve cooling power by a method wherein air is uniformly distributed to a packing material layer with reduced pressure loss by a slantedly arranged packing material layer and water receiving plates arranged below the layer.
CONSTITUTION: By a slanted arrangement of a packing material layer 10, the aperture area of an air intake port 2 is enlarged. As a result, the velocity of the air flow through louvers 5 is decreased, and hence pressure loss is reduced. A wedge- shaped air inflow portion formed between the layer 10 and a cold-water layer 6 allows air to reach the depth of the tower easily; reversely slanted water receiving plates 11 rectifies air flowing in from both sides and sequentially deflecting the air upward. Thus, the air flowing in is uniformly distributed to the packing material layer 10, and hence cooling power can be improved.
