Abstract
PURPOSE: To ferment organic matters to be decomposed by micro-organisms for a short time efficiently, and to make them free from pollution, crushing various kinds of sludges and wastes, piling them in a specific bulk density so that they are fermented aerobically.
CONSTITUTION: Sludges or wastes whose water contents are adjusted to 45W 55wt% are crushed in such a way that they have an average particle diameter of 4W16mm, preferably 5W10mm, and a particle size distribution of fine W40mm, preferably fine W20mm. They are adjusted to a water content of 45W55wt%, preferably 47W52wt% and to a pH of 8.5W10.5, preferably 8.5W10, piled in a bulk density of 0.6W0.8g/cc, preferably 0.65W0.75g/cc, and a metal oxide such as ferric oxide, manganese dioxide, etc. to which ammonia is added from the outside is added to the pile, which is fermented aerobically.
