Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain at a low cost a soil conditioner contg. a trace element and excellent in fermentative effect, by adding a vegetable fiber scum to an activated sludge from org. waste water, mixing fly ash therewith ater squeezing water, and then charging the resulting mixt. to a rotary fermenter, where it is aged.
CONSTITUTION: A vegetable fiber scum is added to an activated sludge from org. waste water such as a slurried activated sludge produced by biological treatment of org. waste water from a paper mill, and, after squeezing water to attain a water of 60W70%, the water content is adjusted to about 50% by mixing about 5W30wt% fly ash, i.e., pulverized coal ash. Then the purpose soil conditioner is obtd. by feeding the mixt. obtd. to a rotary fermenter, where it is aerobically fermented with agitation and addition of air for a certain period of time and aged to attain a carbon ratio of 30W40%. It is possible to age the mixt. of the activated sludge and fly ash to attain a carbon ratio of 30W40wt% by depositing it for a certain period of time, instead of feeding it to the rotary fermenter.
