Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a hydrocarbon corresponding to a gasoline fraction in high conversion, by bringing methanol into contact with a catalyst of mountain leather under heating.
CONSTITUTION: Methanol is brought into contact with a catalyst of mountain leather at 300W550°C, to give a hydrocarbon. The mountain leather is a porous needle-like clay called mountain cork, etc., sepiolite as magnesium silicate, attapulgite and palygorskite, etc. as aluminum magnesium.silicate may be cited as the clay. Sepiolite is a clay shown by the formula and one of preferred clay. Mountain leather is obtained by crushing raw stone for mountain leather in a dispersion medium such as water, dispersing it into water, collecting the dispersed mountain leather by a filter, forming it, followed by drying. The mountain leather can support Al, Mg, etc. The used catalyst is calcined at 300W550°C and can be resued.
