Abstract

PURPOSE: To regulate the yield ratio of a light oil and an olefin by mixing a plant type org. substance such as powdery lignin or the like to a coal ash based on silica or the like as the catalyst in subjecting the heavy oil to the catalytic cracking.
CONSTITUTION: In the catalytic cracking the heavy oil based on a hydrocarbon with b.p. of 300°C or more, the plant type org. substance such as powdery lignin exhausted from a paper making procedure or saw dusts is mixed to the flyash in the coal ash based on silica and alumina exhausted from a steam-power station or the like in an optional ratio and this mixture is dried and molded to prepare the catalyst. If this catalyst is used in carring out the heated catalytic cracking at 300°C or more, the yield ratio of the light oil and olefin can be regulated optionally.
