Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a sintered hard alloy suited for working of hard to machine materials by consisting the same of the specific ratios of the hard phase of the compsn. within the specific range of the tertiary phase diagram of TiC, TiN-TaC, NbC-WC, Mo2C and iron group binding metals.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy contg. ≥95vol% hard phase consisting of the compsns. within the XYZ of the tertiary phase diagram of TiC (and/or TiN)-TaC(and or NbC)-WC(and/or No2C) and ≤5vol% iron group metal as a binding metal. The compsn. within XYZ refer to a) 50W85 Tic, TiN, B) 15W50 WC, Mo2O, C) 0W35 TaC, NbC in molar %. Here, if the component (a) is below 50%, abrasion resistance and melt sticking resistance degrade, and in excess of 85%, chipping resistance and edging property degrade. If the component (b) is below 15%, chipping resistance degrades and in excess of 50%, abrasion resistance degrades. If the component (c) is in excess of 35%, abrasion resistance degrades. If the hard phase is below 95%, abrasion resistance degrades considerably.
