Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a sintered hard alloy fit for plastic working by sintering a WC- base hard phase and a dispersion phase of Cr, V or Zr carbide with a binding metal such as Co or Ni.
CONSTITUTION: WC is used as a hard phase. ≤10wt% TiC or ≤25wt% TaC may be substituted for part of the WC. A 0.2W10wt% dispersion phase of one or more among Cr3C2, VC and ZrC is substituted for part of the hard phase. The hard and dispersion phases are sintered with 4W15wt% Co, Ni or Co-Ni alloy as a binding phase. The resulting sintered hard alloy shows superior characteristics in plastic working uses such as drawing, deep drawing, smoothening and flattening where press sticking and melt sticking occur to cause wear of a tool and in uses such as wire drawing dies where press sticking and melt sticking are caused by friction and abrasion.
