Abstract

PURPOSE: An alkylene oxide is added to one of tolylenediamine isomers or their mixture to produce a polyetherpolyol giving polyurethane foam of good properties.
CONSTITUTION: For example, at first, ethylene oxide is added to tolylenediamine under pressure at 100W160°C by 3W4.5mol per mol of the diamine. Further, a basic metal hydroxide such as potassium or sodium hydroxide is added as a catalyst and ethylene oxide is added to the above product by 1W2mol, then propylene oxide is added until hydroxyl value becomes 400W520 to produce the objective polyetherpolyol.
USE: The product is combined with sucrose polyether and the combination is made to react with isocyanate to produce polyurethane of good fluidity and high low- temperature strength.
