EXAMPLE: 5-Chloro-3-[ 4-( 2-benzoyloxyethyl )-1-piperazinyl ]carbonylmethyl- 2-benzothiazolinone.
USE: Intermediate of 5-chloro-3-[ 4-( 2-hydroxyethyl )-1-piperazinyl ]carbonylmethyl-2-benzothiazolinone useful as an antiphlogistic and analgesic agent.
PROCESS: The compound of formulaIcan be prepared by (1) reacting the compound of formula II or its monoacidic salt with the compound of formula X- CH2CH2OY (X is halogen or organic sulfonyl) to obtain the compound of formula III or its monoacidic salt, (2) reacting the product with the compound of formula X-CH2COOH or its reactive derivative at the carboxyl group, and (3) reacting the resultant compound of formula IV with the compound of formula V in the presence of an alkaline condensation agent.
