USE: An intermediate for preparing 5-chloro-3-[4-(2-hydroxyethyl)-1-piperazinylcarbonylmethyl]-2-benzothiazolinone having anti-inflammatory and analgesic action.
PROCESS: An N-β-hydroxyethylpiperazine expressed by formula II is reacted with a compound expressed by formula III or a reactive derivative at the carboxyl group thereof to give a compound expressed by formula IV. The resultant compound expressed by formula IV is directly reactd with a compound expressed by the formula Y-OH or a reactive derivative thereof to afford the compound expressed by formulaI.
