Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform always stable spray transfer despite the fluctuations in external conditions in pulse arc welding by terminating the pulse current period after the prescribed time from the point of the time when the momentary value of pulse currents exceeds a reference value. CONSTITUTION:When a pulse frequency controlling circuit 14 outputs signals at prescribed periods, a pulse signal generating circuit 17 produces an output tp from the rise time of said signals. Then, a driving circuit 6 conducts a switching element 2' and supplies the output of a DC electric power source for pulses to weld zones. This pulse current is detected with a detecting circuit 11, and is compared with the set value Ix of a reference current setter 12. When the pulse current attains i >= Ix, a comparator 13 emits an output which starts the timing of a time limiting circuit 15. Upon timing out of the circuit 15 after the prescribed time, the circuit 17 stops outputting. As a result the element 2' is interrupted, and the pulse current has the time range necessary for stable spray transfer.
