Abstract

PURPOSE: To rationalize the degree of segregation of starting materials for sintering on the pallet of a DL type sintering machine for fine iron ore with simple equipment and to enhance the productivity of the machine by forming a shoot for dropping starting materials onto the pallet with a plurality of shoots having specified openings.
CONSTITUTION: When sintered ore is manufactured from fine iron ore with a DL type sintering machine, starting materials 8 are fed onto the grate bar 5 of the pallet 4 of the sintering machine 17 in layers. At this time, in order to enhance the strength, product yield, productivity, etc. of the manufactured sintered ore, the starting material layers on the pallet 4 are segregated so that the upper layer is made rich in coke as fuel and the starting material of the lower layer have a larger grain size than those of the upper layer. To attain the segregation a shoot 18 having slitlike openings 19 and a shoot 20 are set below a drum feeder 2 at fixed intervals, and the starting materials 8 are sieved with the shoots to form starting materials layers with the desired grain size distribution. A plurality of shoots are set according to the kind and grain size of starting materials, and the charged starting materials are regulated to the desired degree of segregation.
