Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled composition having storage stability and being useful in powder coatings, molding materials, hot melt adhesives, etc., which are curable at relatively low temperatures, prepared by mixing a normally solid epoxy resin with a specified urea compound and other compounds.
CONSTITUTION: A composition which is storage-stable and, when heated, is convertible into a crosslinked epoxy resin, prepared by mixing a solid epoxy resin, softening point 40W150°C (e.g., polyglycidyl ether obtained by reacting bisphenol A with epichlorohydrin), dicyandiamide or/and a hydrazine (e.g., sebacic acid dihydrazide), an adduct prepared by reacting an epoxy compound with a dialkylamine or its product prepared by neutralization with an acid substance, and a urea compound of the formula, wherein X and Y are each H, Cl, Br, CH3, NO2 or OCH3, R1 and R2 are each an alkyl, alkenyl, aryl or aralkyl and R1 and R2 can be combined together to form a ring (e.g., 3-phenyl-1,1-dimethylurea) and, if necessary, known additives.
