Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize the application of an optical thyristor to a circuit to which the high voltage is applied, by carrying out the division of voltage for the cathode and the anode of a main thyristor via a capacitor and setting an optical thyristor between the point of voltage division and a gate. CONSTITUTION:The voltage dividing capacitors C1 and C2 are set between the anode and the cathode of a main thyristor 2, and at the same time an ignition optical thyristor 4 is set between the intermediate point J1 and the gate of the thyristor 4. Thus the voltage applied to the thyristor 4 is lowered. The electric power is supplied to the thyristor 2 through a capacitor 7 while the forward voltage is applied to the thyristor 2. At the same time, the energy stored in the capacitor 8 is supplied to the thyristor 2 through a resistance 5 and in the form of a discharged current jG. As a result, the thyristor 2 is ignited.
