Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect erroneous insertion, by providing an error message output processing part, which outputs an error message when a disc which is not used for initial program load is inserted, in the boot block of the flexible disc. CONSTITUTION:In case of the system start, the operator mounts a flexible disc 1' to a prescribed driving device and operates a service processor 7 to indicate the boot. A boot block 3' which is the start physical record of the disc 1' is read out to a main storage 8; and if this disc is a normal initial program loading disc, a loader runs to load a control program; but if the disc 1' is a disc for data file and is not a normal initial program loading disc, an error message output processing part 6 of the boot block 3' is started automatically, and the processing part 6 displays an error message indicating the erroneous insertion of the flexible disc on a console display 9.
