Abstract

PURPOSE:To know the conditions of a temperature-detected member itself and its circumference while exercising secure temperature control over the temperature-detected member without using light, by controlling the temperature of the member by the signal of a temperature detecting means and then storing an output obtained by comparing said signal with a reference potential. CONSTITUTION:A temperature sensor 9 detects the temperature of a photosensitive drum or its corresponding temperature and its output is inputted to a temperature control means 11 to hold the drum at set temperature. The output of the sensor 9, on the other hand, is inputted to a comparing circuit 12, which compares the input signal with a reference potential 10 equivalent to the abnormal temperature of the drum to send its output to a storage circuit 13 and an arithmeic circuit 14. The arithmetic circuit 14 connects with a microcomputer 15 to detect the abnormal conditions of the drum itself and its circumference, e.g., a jam, thereby performing control over jam display, process stopping, etc.
