Abstract

PURPOSE:To discriminate the condition of the temperature control over a member whose temperature is to be detected, and to make the member itself and its circumference discriminated accurately and rapidly with a simple constitution, by utilizing the output variation of a temperature detecting means. CONSTITUTION:A temperature detecting sensor 9 is arranged near a separate charger 6 to measure the temperature of a photoreceptor 1, and the output of the sensor 9 is inputted to a temperature control means 10 and a differentiating circuit 11 to hold the temperature of a photosensitive drum 1 nearly uniform. The differentiating circuit 11, on the other hand, differentiates the output of the sensor 9 and inputs the result to a comparing circuit 12. The input is compared with a prescribed reference value by the comparing circuit 12 to judge the conditions of the photosensitive drum 1 itself and its circumference. For example, if a recording material is wound around the surface of the drum 1 and causes a jam, the output of the temperature detecting sensor 9 varies greatly, so the comparing circuit 12 judges the occurrence of the jam immediately, so that a microcomputer 13 performs processing.
