Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure the thickness of the thin metal plate accurately with no contact by placing the thin metal plate between a high-frequency coil and a detecting coil and by inputting voltage induced in the detecting coil and the temperature of the thin metal plate into a microcomputer for operational processing. CONSTITUTION:The high-frequency coil 3 being excited, the voltage induced in the detecting coil 7 in the respective cases when the thin plate is absent, when a reference thin plate is present and when the thin plate to be measured is present is converted into a digital signal by an A/D convertion circuit 13 and inputted in the microcomputer 15. Meanwhile, the temperature of the thin plate is detected by a surface thermometer 11 and inputted in the microcomputer 15 through the inermediary of the A/D convertion circuit 13. Based on these inputs, the microcomputer 15 computes the thickness of the thin plate to be measured and the result thereof is indicated in an indication device 17.
