Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the misalignment in printed dots by accurately determining the starting and ending points in an effective scanning range at the time of reciprocal scannnig using a galvanomirror. CONSTITUTION:A light beam emitted from a semiconductor laser 1 is reflcted by a mirror surface 12 of the moving galvanomirror, and the reciprocal scanning is performed in the range between Q and R with a spot diameter. When the scanning is started in the direction of B, the light beam is located at the starting point of the effective scanning range (S2) after a specified time (a) has elapsed from the detection of the light beam by a light detector 13. The position of the light beam is computed based on the elaspsed time from the point of time. A time (c) from the time point, where the arrival of the light beam at the end of the effective scanning range (S2) is computed, up to the detection of the light beam by a light detector 14 is measured. Then the scanning direction is reversed to the direction of an arrow B'. At the time point when the time length equal to (c) has elapsed from the detection of the light beam by the light detector 14, the light beam is considered to be located at the starting pont of the effective scanning range (S2).
