Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve operation of reject letter correction by displaying a letter pattern which is displayed when reject letter is corrected in contrast near original letter pattern on the form, and thereby making the reject letter pattern easy to see. CONSTITUTION:Reflected light from a form 1 is converted to an electric signal by a photoelectric conversion section 3 and the electric signal is converted to multiplexed digital code by an A/D conversion circuit 4. The code signal is temporarily stored in a multiplexed memory 5, and binary coded by a preliminary processing circuit 6, and binary coded letter row pattern is stored in a binary coded memory 7. Recognition of letter pattern of the memory 7 is made by a recognition circuit 8 and reject code according to the result of recognition of the circuit 8 is received by a control circuit 9, and the letter pattern corresponding to the code is read out from the memory 7. When a reject letter is displayed on a CRT display section 17, contents of memory are read out from the memory 5 and displayed in contrast near the original letter pattern to make the pattern easy to see.
