Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the burden of the operator and improve the read precision, by receiving correct answer patterns from plural recognizing parts and reject patterns from a preprocessing control part and displaying both patterns simultaneously on the same screen of a CRT. CONSTITUTION:Character patterns read in a photoelectric converting part are inputted to a character cutting part A, and one-character patterns P are stored successively from the cutting part A to a pattern memory B. The pattern P read out from the memory B is subjected to the first correction in the first preprocessing part C, and a corrected pattern P1 is applied to a recognizing part D and is compared with reference patterns provided in the recognizing part D, and a degree of resemblance between them is obtained to recognize the character on a basis of features or the like. In this recognizing part D, second and third corrected patterns obtained in the second preprocessing part F and a preprocessing control part E are recognized similarly. Correct answer patterns PA1-PA3 obtained in the recognizing part D and reject patterns P2 and P3 from the control part E are displayed simultaneously on the same screen of a CRT monitor, thus improving the read precision.
