Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an energy-saving air filter having high collecting efficiency by providing a particle charging device in the upper stream side of an electret filter medium and thereby improving collecting capacity of the electret filter medium.
CONSTITUTION: The filtering device 6 of this air filter is provided with a filter medium made of fiber which is made to an electret. A high voltage electrode 7 having netlike or wirelike form is installed in the upper stream position of the filter medium 5 of the device 6. High voltage, 12kV for instance, is applied to this electrode 7 to charge particles in air forcibly. The forcibly charged particles are collected by the filter medium 5 of the device 6. Consequently, particles in air are collected effectively, and especially, ultrafine particles of about 0.1μm are collected perfectly. In the electret filter shown in the figure, 2, 4 show particles and 3 indicates fiber.
