Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the dust collecting performance by setting to not less than 5m/sec the rate of charging the particles of sucked dust passed through a charging means, so that even high-density particles can be efficiently collected.
CONSTITUTION: An apparatus used in this invention comprises a means 1 for chargging dust with corona discharge which occur between both of electrodes when a high voltage of a positive pole is applied to a discharge electrode 2 by a DC high voltage generator 4 with an earth electrode 3 grounded, a filter member 6 consisting of a filter cloth of a high dielectric constant, and a dust collector 5 consisting of a suction fan 8. In the apparatus of the above-described construction, the rate of charging particles passed through the charging means 1 is set to not less than 5m/sec and the flow rate of a dust-containing gas passed through the same means 1 is set to not less than 5m/sec. As a result, the pressure loss in the filter member 6 can be reduced to a comparatively low level. Thus, even high density particles can be collected at a high efficiency.
