Abstract

PURPOSE: To decrease the fluctuation of the filter member electric field and stabilize the arresting performance, by regulating the potential of the facing electrodes for charging particles and of a filter member high voltage electrode for arresting the particles to the same electric potential and grounding both electrodes or integrally combined facing and filter member high voltage electrodes through a resistance.
CONSTITUTION: A charging part comprises discharge electrodes 14 connected with a high voltage power source 13 and the facing electrodes 15 grounded via a resistance thereby dust particles floating in the air between the electrodes can be charged. A dust arresting part comprises the filtering high voltage electrode 17 that is connected via a conductor to the facing electrodes 15 of the charging part and is grounded via the resistance 16, a dielectric filter member 18 and a ground electrode 19 thereby arresting the charged particles. The electrodes 17, 18 are made of metallic mesh, perforated steel plates, or the like for passing the air. In this arrangement, corona discharge can be generated from the electrodes 14 toward the electrodes 15 to uniformly charge the particles. Accordingly, fluctuation of the filter member electric field for the charged particles can be compensated by the generation of voltage in the resistance 16.
