Abstract

PURPOSE: To collect dust highly efficiently by a method wherein uncharged scattered dust particles at a collecting part of the device are instantaneously charged by a corona discharge electric field of a high voltage electrode and an electrostatic field, thereby rescattering of dust particles are prevented.
CONSTITUTION: Particles flowing with contaminated gas 8 are charged when they pass through corona discharge electric field 3 of a charging part consisting of discharge electrodes 1 and ground electrodes 2. In a dust collecting part composed of high voltage electrodes 10W17 and dust collection electrodes 5, the charged particles are collected on the surface of the dust collection electrode 5 by Coulomb's force acting on both electrodes due to the electrostatic field 6 so that cleaned gas 9 is released out of the equipment. The high voltage electrodes 10W17 consists of parts 10W13 which are flat plates having holes of various sizes, and parts 14W17 which are flat plates having uniformly protruded sections; both plates are provided with corona discharge part at fabricated and shaped locations, so that corona discharge always supplies ions to the space between the high voltage electrodes 10 through 17 and the dust collection electrode 5.
