Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled device which can electromagnetically measure the flow speed and the quantity of flow regardless of the property of fluid, by incorporating multiple magnetic bodies in a toroidal side path in which the fluid in a main pipe is introduced and detecting the variation in the magnetic field generated by the movement of the magnetic field. CONSTITUTION:The main pipe 4 having the toroidal side path is connected between pipes 1 and 1' wherein the fluid flows by flanges 3 and 3'. The multiple magnetic particles 6 are incorporated in the annular side path 5. The annular side path 5 and the main pipe 4 are separated by a mesh part 7 so that particles 6 do not flow into the main pipe 4. Magnetizing means 8 and 8' and a detecting coil 9 are provided on the outside of the annular side path 5. In this constitution, the magnetic particles move in the annular side path 5 in proportion to the moving speed of the fluid, and are magnetized by the magnetizing means 8 and 8'. When they pass the detecting coil 9, an electromotive force is generated in the detecting coil 9. By measuring the electromotive force of the detecting coil 9, the flow speed of the fluid can be measured.
