Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a method for testing a flow meter at a small flow quantity by providing plural pipes in a conduit made of a nonmagnetic material which are connected in such a way that flow in the pipes becomes unidirectional one and comparing the known quantity of a fluid flowed in the pipes with the measured values with an electromagnetic flow meter. CONSTITUTION:In a conduit 20 made of a nonmagnetic material, are arranged n pipes 21 with conductivity of the same extent as that of a fluid to be measured, and their ends are connected with connecting pipes 22 in such a way that the fluid may flow in one direction as shown by the arrow marks in the figure. If a flow quantity Q of a fluid 10 (molten metal) is flowed from the inlet 22a of the connecting pipe 22, nQ flows in the conduit 20. By placing this conduit 20 in a magnetic field formed by a magnetic field generator, flowing the known quantity nQ of said fluid in the pipes in the conduit 20 and comparing with the measured value of the output voltae of electrodes 20a and 20b, provided in the conduit 20, proportionate to the fluid quantity, an electromagnetic flow meter can be tested at a small flow quantity.
