Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an accurate flow measurement without the use of a large-size coil by arranging a magnetic element on the outer side of piping near the detection means consisting of excitation coil and detection coil.
CONSTITUTION: The flow meter housed in protection pipe 9 is fixed inside piping 10. The excitation coil 1 and detection coils 2, 3 of the said flow meter are connected to the outer power supply and the amplifier through the intermediary of lead wire 14 and MI cable 15. A pipe of magnetic material 13 is installed on the outer side of piping 10 surrounding the detection means. As a result, a magnetic field 12 expands as far as the inside of piping 10. Consequently, it is possible to correctly detect the velocity of flow of a fluid 11 passing through piping 10 with the assistance of detection coils 2, 3. Under this constitution, the coil does not have to be enlarged and the flow can be measured at low cost and with accuracy.
