Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to detect and calibrate easily the aging variation of an electromagnetic flow meter, by supervising RMS of a detection output voltage developed by the electromagnetic flow meter.
CONSTITUTION: When liquid metal is flowing at mean speed (u) per hour, providing magnetic field B perpendicular to the flow direction in electromagnetic flow meter 100 develops electromotive force across electrodes 1 and 2. The electromotive force is amplified by amplifier 3 and then inputted to filter 4, which outputs only the alternating-current component. On receiving the alternating-current component, RMS arithmetic unit 5 applies a voltage, in proportion to RMS of the alternating- current component, to indicator 6, which indicates the flow rate or mean flow speed of the liquid metal. On the basis of this indication value, the actual measurement value is calibrated, so that the real measurement value can be detected according to the state of the electromagnetic flow meter.
