Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain aligned structure with high performance by moving a mold contg. molten alloy from a heating chamber to a cooling chamber, and allowing a magnetized magnetic material to directly contact the outside surface of the mold.
CONSTITUTION: In a vacuum device of about 2×10-4 Torr, AC current is supplied from a power supply terminal 11 to the heating element 1 of a heating chamber A to heat the element 1 to high temp., thence molten alloy is teemed into a heated mold 3. Thence, a water-cooled copper plate 2 is lowered and the mold 3 is moved into a cooling chamber B. The magnetic material powder 9 in a hopper 10 is supplied into the cooling chamber B through a supply pipe 13 by a piston 12. The powder 9 is magnetized by an electromagnetic coil 7, thereby forming a bridge 14. The powder 9 contacts the mold 3, falls in depriving the same of heat and is discharged to the outside of the chamber. The heat of the outside surface of the mold 3 is transferred to a water cooling jacket 8 by way of the bridge 14 of the powder 9 between the jacket 8 and the mold 3. Thereby, the alloy having aligned structure in a constant direction is obtained without causing alloy staining.
