Abstract

PURPOSE:To save labor required for loading a snap ring, by urging the snap ring guided by a guide portion to make itself elastic deformation for fitting the snap ring into a recessed groove in the inner peripheral surface of a retainer ring. CONSTITUTION:A snap ring 7 is disposed in a guide portion 11 above a positioning guide 16 so that free ends 7' of the snap ring 7 align together. Then, operation of a press-fitting cylinder device 17 causes holding pawls 19, 20 to enter into the guide member 11. Therefore, the holding pawls 19, 20 resiliently abut against the tapered inner surface of the guide member 11 while descending toward lower end opening 13. Thus, the snap ring 7 is also moved toward the lower end opening 13 while making itself elastic deformation, and then is further moved into the inner peripheral surface 3 of a retainer 1 so as to be finally loaded into the recessed groove 4 in the inner peripheral surface 3 of the retainer 1, thereby to eliminate any manual labor for the process of loading a snap ring.
