Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable automatic fitting of a piston ring to a positioned piston by a method wherein the piston ring fed to and engaged with the outer-peripheral surface of a cup member is made to conduct the downward displacement, while being expanded and transformed elastically by the downward motion of a pressing part. CONSTITUTION:The lowest-positioned piston ring 26'' out of those in a magazine 28 is pushed out from a feedingport part 34 by the operation of the 5th air cylinder 29 and is engaged with the outer-peripheral surface of a cup member 7. Next, a piston 9 is stopped on a carrying rack 20 under the cup member 7 by the 3rd air cylinder 19. After that, the piston 9 is positioned by the operation of the 4th air cylinder 23. Then, the cup member 7 is pushed down by the 1st air cylinder 4 and made to approach the top part of the piston 9 so as to cover the top. Under the condition, a pressing part 16 is moved downward by the 2nd air cylinder 13, thereby the piston ring 26 is made to do the displacement toward the bottom surface of the cup member and is expanded and transformed elastically, and thus the piston ring 26 is fitted in the ring groove 9'' of the piston 9.
