Abstract

PURPOSE:To insert an inside pipe into an outside pipe without applying an excessive pressing-in force to the inside pipe and to reduce the cost of the device, by fixing one end of the inside pipe inserted into the outside pipe by a fixed seal clamp and fixing the other through a pressing spring by a movable seal clamp. CONSTITUTION:An outside pipe 20 is heated at a prescribed temperature to increase the diameter of the pipe, and an inside pipe 21 is cooled from a natural temperature by cold water to reduce the diameter of the pipe, and these pipes are superposed relatively with the difference in diameter and are fitted, and the front end of the inside pipe 21 is fixed to a seal clamp 11 of a stand 4. A cylinder 7' is operated to move a sleeve piston backward through a cross head 14 and a pressing spring 19, and the rear end of the inside pipe 21 is fixed to a seal clamp 11', and the cylinder is operated to set the inside pipe 21 so that an intial pressing-in force of a set magnitude in the axial direction is given to the inside pipe 21 through the pressing spring 19. Then, a valve 5' is closed, and a valve 5 is opened, and water is charged into the inside pipe 21 through a conduit 6 and a water charging hole 3 to fill up water in the inside pipe 21. Next, the valve 5 is closed, and a plunger 8 is press-advanced by a cylinder 7 to apply a pipe expanding force to the inside pipe 21. At this time, though the inside pipe 21 is contracted in the axial direction because of pipe expansion, the inside pipe 21 is pressed into the outside pipe by the pressing-in force of the pressing spring 19.
