Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the cycle characteristic of a chargeable organic electrolyte battery by using V3O7 (vanadium heptoxide) as a positive active material. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode 1 is placed on the inner bottom surface of a positive can 2, and a negative electrode 3 made of a rolled lithium plate is pressed upon a current collector 5 placed on the inner bottom surface of a negative can 4. Next, a separator 6 impregnated with electrolyte is interposed between the electrodes 1 and 3. After that, an insulating gasket 7 is interposed between the cans 2 and 4 so as to seal the battery, thereby constituting a chargeable organic electrolyte battery. Here, the positive electrode 1 contains vanadium heptoxide (V3O7) used as an active material, which is prepared by subjecting commercially available meta-ammonium vanadate (NH4VO3) to vacuum thermal decomposition at 340 deg.C for two hours. The positive electrode 1 is made by adding a conductive agent and a binding agent into the active material, and mixing the mixture before the mixture is molded.
