Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:The triazolyl ketone thioether compound of formulaI(R is phenyl, benzyl or alkyl).
EXAMPLE: 3,3-Dimethyl-1-methylthio-1-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)butan-2-one.
USE: Useful as a synthetic intermediate of a triazolyl vinyl ketone compound useful as a fungicide. The titled compound can be converted to the triazolyl vinyl ketone compound by benzylation and reaction with an oxidizing agent.
PROCESS: The compound of formulaIis prepared by reacting (1mol of) the halogeno-ketone compound of formula II (Y is halogen) with (preferably 2W3mol of) trazole in the presence of a base such as potassium carbonate in a solvent such as methanol.
