Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:The triazolyl-β-diketone compound of formulaI[R1 is (CH3)3- C- or group of formula V (R2 is H, methyl or Cl)].
EXAMPLE: 2,2,6,6-Tetramethyl-4-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)-heptane-3,5-dione.
USE: Fungicide or an intermediate of the triazolylvinyl alcohol compound of formula III (Y is H or Cl) useful as an agricultural and horticultural fungicide.
PROCESS: The compound of formulaIis prepared by reacting the halogeno-β- diketone compound of formula II with 1,2,4-triazole in the presence of a base. The compound of formulaIcan be converted to the compound of formula III by reacting with a benzaldehyde compound, and reducing the resultant compound of formula IV.
