NEW MATERIAL:7, 8-Expoxy-1-( 1-hydroxy-1-methyl-ethyl )-4, 8, 12-trimethycyclotetradeca-1,3,11-triene of formulaI, and 9,10β-epoxy-2-isopropylidene-5,9,β- 13-trimethylcyclotetradeca-5-en-1-one of formulaII.
USE: Anti-cancer agents.
PROCESS: 9, 10-Epoxy-2-isopropylidene-5, 9, 13-trimethylcyclotetradeca-5, 13-diene- 1-one is reduced with a reducing agent, e.g. LiAlH4, at -80W100°C for 1W100hr to give the compound of formula IorII. The compound of formula III is novel one, and can be obtained by oxidizing the compound of formula IV.
