Abstract
PURPOSE:To heighten the efficiency of charging and combustion under heavy and light load, by providing a main throttle valve in a main intake passage and an accessory throttle valve in an accessory intake passage which connects the upstream and downstream sides of the main throttle valve and a fuel injection valve to each other and by interlocking the accessory throttle valve with the main throttle valve. CONSTITUTION:A fuel injection valve 14 is provided in a branch pipe 12, which serves as a main intake passage together with an intake pipe 15. A main throttle valve 17 is provided in the intake pipe 15. A branch passage 19, to which an accessory intake passage 21 branched from the upstream side of the main throttle valve 17 is connected through a distribution passage 18, is provided with a port 20 downstream to the fuel injection valve 14. An accessory throttle valve 22 is provided in the accessory intake passage 21 and coupled to the main throttle valve 17 through a link mechanism not shown in the drawing. In engine operation under light load, the main throttle valve 17 is entirely closed and the accessory throttle valve 22 is opened depending on the load. The degree of opening of the valve 22 is heightened to its full opening and the valve 17 is opened as the load increases. According to this constitution, the efficiency of charging under heavy load is heightened and an intense swirl is caused in a combustion chamber 5 under light load.
