Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the turn-off time of a transistor (TR) by applying a reverse bias between the base and emitter of the TR during the turn-off period of the TR. CONSTITUTION:The base and emitter of a main switching TRQ1 and a driving- stage TRQ2, connected together in Darlington basis, are coupled inductively by inductance L. When a base current Ib is supplied to a terminal Td, the TRs Q1 and Q2 turn on. When the current Ib is cut off, a current flowing through the winding N2 of the choke coil L flows between the emitter and base of the TRQ2 as a reverse current to remove the stored carriers of the TRQ2. Similarly, a current flowing through winding N1 also removes the stored carriers of the TRQ1.
