Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance heat resistance and fire resistance by a method wherein the outside surface of the lower half part of a fuel tank main body is covered by a heat-resistant mateial, and the outside surface of the heat-resistant material is covered by a heat-reflecting shielding film. CONSTITUTION:The outside surface of the lower half (i.e., bottom) part 2c of the fuel tank 2 and the peripheral wall 2d thereof is covered by a beat-resistant layer consisting of the heat-resistant heat-insulating material. The heat-resistant heat-insulating material constituting the heat-resistant layer 3 is an abrasion material which has heat resistance, is carbonized under high temperature conditions and has an abrasion cooling effect to thereby shield heat and cool. When the tank 1 is heated to the heat-resisting temperature or above, the heat-insulating material constituting the outside layer of the main body 2 is carbonized to form a carbonized layer at the outside surface of the main body 2. Accordingly, the heat-insulating effect is further enhanced to protect the main body 2 from heat and the heat-insulating material produces the abrasion cooling effect under the high heat, thereby further enhancing the effect of shielding the transfer of heat to the main body 2.
