Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a copper jacket for steel making improved in heat resistance and abrasion resistance by covering the exposed external surface of a copper jacket or the like for steel making by build up welding of a stainless steel welding rod to form a coating layer. CONSTITUTION:A coating layer 9 of stainless steel is formed by build up welding on the jacket 8 of the front end tuyere 7 (made of copper) of a blast furnace hot air blasting device using a stainless steel welding rod. This method can be applied to water cooling copper jackets of various kinds and can improve heat resistance, shock resistance and abrasion resistance.
